Welcome back from the hiatus everyone!
We hope a week without our veggies didn’t leave anybody feeling hungry. The good news is that the farm is bustling with life and we’re feeling rather replenished, recharged and ready to go ourselves. The bad news is that there’s only good news…not bad for bad news.
This is what you can expect to find in your boxes this week:
* chinese cabbage
* cucumber or kohlrabi or squash
* romaine lettuce
*beets (full share only)
Tips for storage
Chinese Cabbage- we have wrapped newspaper around to keep it fresh.Place the wrapped cabbage in a plastic bag and it can be stored in the fridge for up to a month.
Garlic keeps best in a cool dark place like a cupboard in an open container. DO NOT store in the fridge.
Basil keeps best at room temperature NOT in the fridge for 4-5 days. If you cannot consume it at once, the easiest way to preserve it is to place them in a jar of olive oil. You don’t have to cut at all. It should keep for 2 weeks. Use the basil infused oil on bread, salad and pizza. Add other spices to it like garlic or hot pepper. Other yummy ways of eating basil, is to make pesto or bruscetta.
