Community Supported Agriculture

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a means by which consumers can support a sustainable farm and in return, receive a weekly bounty of produce throughout the entirety of a CSA season.  Members of a CSA generally buy their share in full at the beginning of the season which enables the farmer to buy seeds, soil amendments, tools, etc. for the upcoming season.  Pre-payment gives the farmer some financial security in the otherwise unpredictable world of sustainable farming.  It also provides the farmer with the resources to set up their farm to sufficiently deal with problems related to climate, pests, disease and the like.  While members do share the burden of risk with the farmer, they can also look forward to the pleasure of eating healthy, fresh, chemical-free, local produce that they play a major part in fostering.  A CSA gives it’s members an opportunity to eat well and be  part of building a truly sustainable local economy.

How does our CSA work?

We no longer offer a spring/summer CSA, but we continue to have a winter/spring CSA that begins in December and finishes in April. Our CSA keeps you healthy with plenty of greens and root crops and starts out with fall favorites like sweet potatoes and winter squash. There are rarities like burdock root, peanuts and dry beans and finishes off with spring favorites like asparagus and herbs. Currently our CSA is full but if you are interested in our 2012/2013 winter/spring CSA please email us at edible.earthscapes@gmail.com . We will put you on our CSA mailing list where you’ll receive information on when and how to sign up.
